Enjoyed this week’s episode. Thanks, WP Watercooler.
Deciding on comment plugins can be a tough decision given all the options available.

Perhaps most website owners don’t give it enough thought in the beginning. It’s like comments just happen to a site (an after thought). But they shouldn’t be.

I agree with Sarah that comments should be part of a wider social/community building strategy for a site. Otherwise, it may be better to just disable them.

For all the flack that the internal WordPress commenting system gets, maybe it is better for businesses to own and mine their own comments data, rather than handing it off to 3rd parties.

“CommentStat” would be a good name for plugin to do just that…does it already exist?

    Great panel as always. Thanks

    Hey!
I didn’t find an exact vorteil und nachteil in this video. However it helps me to think about those. I’ve tried all available comment systems, Native+WP Ajaxify Comments, then Disqus and Livefyre. Last two months I was using Facebook Comments, but yesterday I changed it to wpdiscuz. All previous comment systems were like a big greasy spot on my site. But this new one is very customizable. Colors, backgrounds, phrases, everything can be fitted to my needs. It just blends in my current layout and on top of that this plugin just works so smoothly… But I din’t find any option about Postmatic, those don’t exist. How can I get this feature?
I’ve not tried Jetpack yet, I think it’s very heavy, I’ve never found time yet to check all those subPlugins.

Great episode this week. I was asked recently to give my opinion on commenting plugins and instead of me expounding about which to choose from, I suggested that my buddy listen to your show this week. Great job! Love the host this week 😉
